Deposits - What are they?
They are an initial downpayment for a contracted time slot that allows an individual to get in a specific artists schedule.
Why do some shops require a deposit and others don't?
Some shops don't need a deposit because their business model is based around tattoo flash and they rely heavily on walk-in based clients, while more custom based tattoo shops have artists that need to draw the piece in advance to the appointment.
Why are deposits nonrefundable?
Deposits are nonrefundable because when you book an appt. you are guaranteed a time slot for a specific artist and preventing other clients from booking it, so if you don't show up to your appt., you are breaking your end of the contract and no matter what you heard on tv, tattoo artists and studios do not hand out participation ribbons for bad behavior. The tattoo artist still loses out on half that time slots pay but will not lose his home and have to sleep under a bridge because you were irresponsible.
Why are some studios deposits so low and others are so high?
The higher the deposit, the more in demand a particular shop or artist is.
Do I need to place the deposit to have the artist design my tattoo?
Absolutely. We can’t even hear what you're saying until we know you're serious and are ready to get started on the project.
Can I book an appt. place a deposit and move the appt. later with the same deposit?
Nope. That is exactly like canceling only now you've taken up two time slots.
